Publishing Content For Use With An LMS
You can host simulations and courses on the Server or in your LMS, and access them using your SCORM or AICC-conformant LMS.
NOTE: |
If the content does not contain an assessment, only the completion status will be captured. |
NOTE: |
If you are hosting and accessing content on the Server, you cannot track AICC on the Server. You must use the SCORM solution. |
Hosting courses and simulations in your LMS
Perform the following steps to publish your content locally and upload it into your SCORM or AICC-conformant LMS.
- Ensure the Create package option is selected within the template.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Specifying Default Publication LMS Settings.
- Ensure the correct version of SCORM or AICC is selected.

The publishing process will create a [your file name].zip file in one of the following locations depending on your document type:
- [applicationdirectory] Courses: [your file name]\course\html\
- [applicationdirectory] Simulations: [your file name]sim\html\
- Provide the .zip file package to your LMS administrator for upload according to the appropriate LMS specifications.
Hosting courses and simulations on the Server
Hosting content on the server allows you to manage content on the server while still accessing the content through your LMS. There are several options to allow your LMS access to the published content on the Server.
- Package Exchange Notification System (PENS) - The PENS standard eliminates the manual steps formerly required to transport content between the Server and your LMS, and creates a communication link that ensures seamless integration between the Server and your LMS.
Using PENS to access courses and simulations through your LMS
Perform the following steps to publish your content locally. PENS automatically sends it to your SCORM or AICC-conformant LMS.
- Ensure an LMS connection has been established within the Server.
NOTE:
For more information on establishing an LMS connection, refer to Creating and Maintaining an LMS Connection within the Server.
- Ensure the Create package option is selected within the template.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Specifying Default Publication LMS Settings.
- Ensure the correct version of SCORM or AICC is selected.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Specifying Default Publication LMS Settings.
- Check the template and simulation and/or course into the Server.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Checking In Content.
- Publish the simulation and/or course locally.
NOTE:
Refer to Publishing Active Content or Batch Publishing Content for more information.
NOTE: |
PENS automatically sends the content package to your LMS. |
Using AICC Proxy Solution to access courses and simulations through your LMS
Perform the following steps to publish your content to the Server and manually add links into your AICC-conformant LMS using the AICC Proxy solution.
- Ensure the Create package option is selected within the template.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Specifying Default Publication LMS Settings.
- Ensure AICC is selected.
NOTE:
For more information, refer to Specifying Default Publication LMS Settings.
- In the Package Editor, update the AU file based on the LMS requirements.

NOTE:
Refer to Publishing Active Content or Batch Publishing Content for more information.
- Navigate to the course/simulation in the Learning Library end user website.
NOTE:
Refer to Viewing The Learning Library End User Website for more information.
- Copy the URL from the browser address window.
- Create a proxy launch URL by adding "aicc/launch.html?content=/" before the ucontent folder in the URL.
EX:
- content URL - http://uperform-server.com/ucontent/course/course.htm
- proxy launch URL - http://uperform-server.com/aicc/launch.html?content=/ucontent/course/course.htm
NOTE:
The launch.html file contains information to direct users to the correct authentication method when a course is launched.
- Provide the proxy launch URL to your LMS administrator to create a link within the LMS.
NOTE:
A proxy launch URL must be created for each course/simulation.
